ezTrap Lipton Cup Course Family

The ezTrap Lipton Cup Course Family supports the 4-courses and variations used during the Lipton Challenge Cup Keelboat Regattas in a number of countries.  These Regattas have been run for decades in the honor of Sir Thomas Lipton who gifted magnificent silver trophies to many yacht clubs around the world. The Rectangular "R" Course is shown to the left, and supports 1, 2, or 3 rounds with an upwind finish at Mark 1.

The Family includes four course types:

  • Rectangular (R-1, R-2, and R-3 variations);
  • Equilateral Triangle (T-1, T-2, and T-3 variations);
  • Isosceles Triangle (O); and,
  • Windward/Leeward (S-1, S-2, and S-3 variations).

Typically, each course is run once during a 4-day Regatta, and the variation used is dependent on the sailing conditions and judgment of the PRO. Each course uses specific parameters for boat LOA, Average Speed, Tacking Angle, and Target Race Time. ezTrap automatically adjusts the course length to meet the Target Race Time of the fleet regardless of how many rounds.

All ezTrap courses work with one spreadsheet tab per course, and an adjacent tab that contains a summary of notes about the course. For detailed information about ezTrap courses, please download the User's Manual.
